Alloderm arrives in 3x7cm sheets which is reconstituted in the operating
room with
saline. It is then cut into the appropriate size strips and inserted
through tiny incisions,
several millimeters or less in length. Our best results have been
with lips, naso labial
lines, and localized deep furrows, especially at the side of the mouth
or between the
eyebrows.
Length of procedure: One hour or more, depending on the nature of the individual case
Anesthesia: Local with sedation
Recovery: Several weeks to a few months
Duration of results last from one to two years.
It is non allergenic. Potential risks are infection, malplacement, exposure,
scarring and bleeding, which can happen post surgically, but we have seen
none of these in our practice.
